What this product is used for
Final glass-edge polishing on straight-line beveling and shaped-beveling machines, used with a compatible wool wheel and water slurry. It can also be evaluated for polishing selected glass-surface scratches.
How cerium oxide polishing powder works with a wool wheel
Cerium oxide polishing powder is used in the final polishing stage for straight and beveled glass edges. When matched with a wool wheel, water and a stable slurry supply, it helps refine the edge after the preceding grinding stages and develop a clear, bright finish.
In a typical machine process, the powder is mixed with water into an even slurry in the polishing tank. The pump delivers the slurry to the wool wheel, allowing the polishing media and water to reach the glass edge together. Consistent mixing, water flow and wheel condition are all important for a stable finish.
AN718 is supplied as a white cerium oxide polishing powder for beveling-machine, shaped-beveling-machine and selected surface-repair polishing applications. Confirm the glass condition, wheel, slurry concentration and required edge result before defining the final process or quotation.
