What this product is used for
Manual knife sharpening and edge maintenance, using the coarse face for stock removal and the fine face for finishing.
Green silicon carbide stone for coarse and fine sharpening
This double-sided green silicon carbide oilstone combines two sharpening stages in one stone: use the coarse face to remove material and establish the edge, then use the fine face to refine and finish it.
The stone uses pure grade-1 green silicon carbide abrasive. Reference size options are 6 × 2 × 1 in, 8 × 2 × 1 in and 8 × 3 × 2 in, with #120 / #240 grit references. Confirm the exact grit assignment of each face before production because the final configuration should follow the intended blade and sharpening process.
Custom packaging and logo printing are available for OEM orders. Confirm the stone size, grit combination, artwork and carton quantity before quotation.
Grit and use guide
Larger grit numbers indicate finer abrasive grains. The reference chart groups the coarse opening, fine sharpening and polishing stages.
| Reference grit | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 240# / 400# / 600# | Edge opening: establish basic sharpness and repair larger chips |
| 800# / 1000# / 2000# | Honing: repair smaller chips and consolidate the edge |
| 3000# / 4000# / 5000# / 6000# / 8000# / 10000# | Fine sharpening: polish the edge and develop a mirror finish |
Abrasive type comparison
| Abrasive | Code | Main characteristics | Typical application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brown fused alumina | A | High hardness and good toughness | Carbon steel, malleable cast iron and hard bronze |
| White fused alumina | WA | Higher hardness and lower toughness than A; good cutting action and lower grinding heat | High-hardness metals, hardened alloy steel, stainless steel and high-carbon steel |
| Single-crystal alumina | SA | Good toughness with a single-crystal structure | High-toughness and high-hardness alloy steel, titanium-nickel alloy steel and high-speed steel |
| Chromium corundum | ZA | Very high hardness and wear resistance | Stainless steel, heat-resistant steel and other super-hard materials |
| Black silicon carbide | C | Sharper than brown fused alumina with some thermal conductivity | Cast iron, non-ferrous metals, rubber, plastics, wood and ore |
| Green silicon carbide | GC | Harder than black silicon carbide, with sharp grains and good thermal conductivity | Cemented carbide, optical glass, ceramics and other hard brittle materials |
